For a long time, I thought a special dress was one that made everyone turn their heads when you walked into a room. Over the years, I discovered I was wrong.

The most important dresses that have passed through my atelier were never necessarily the most striking. Some were extraordinarily simple. No elaborate embroidery. No impossible fabrics. No embellishments demanding all the attention. And yet, there was something about them that made them unforgettable.

It wasn't the dress.

It was the woman wearing it.

As well as the purchase price, count the alterations each option needs and the accessories you already own. Try the dress sitting down and moving; check the lining, fastening and drape.
