When weddings move indoors for autumn, the guest dress needs a different fabric too. The Eternidad and the Aurora are my answer to this season.
There's a moment in the year, roughly mid-October, when weddings stop being garden weddings and become ballroom weddings. The light changes, the timing of the reception changes, and with them, what I ask of a dress changes too. I'm no longer looking for a fabric that breathes under the afternoon sun, but one that holds its shape well through hours on your feet, table to table, and responds with shine to artificial light that's much flatter than September's.
That's where the Gala Eternidad collection comes in: three dresses that share the same name but have very different personalities depending on the colour: gold, blue and dusty pink. All three share a mermaid silhouette with embroidery and embellishments on tulle, but each colour behaves differently under ballroom light: gold reflects and amplifies, blue absorbs and adds depth, and dusty pink softens — very useful if the guest would rather not be the brightest thing in the room, but doesn't want to go unnoticed either.
In Eternidad dresses, embroidery adds texture and sheen over the tulle. During fittings I look at how the light is distributed, the skirt's drape and whether embellishments rub against other parts. The finish is assessed close up and in motion; the embroidery method alone does not determine how every photograph will turn out.
Weight matters too: check that the bodice stays in place and that the hem lets you walk in the shoes you plan to wear. If an embroidered seam needs altering, we first assess how to reposition the embellishments without damaging the tulle.
For an autumn wedding, the ceremony venue, expected temperature and time spent outdoors help you choose the dress and any outer layer. During the fitting, look at the drape and embroidery under lighting similar to the event's.
"Hand-sewing beadwork means deciding, stitch by stitch, where I want a woman to shine."
Over the years I've come to think that a good gala dress is, above all, one that lasts until the very last dance without you having to think about it. I'm not just talking about physical durability, although that too: I mean the zip not jamming halfway through dinner, the tulle not catching on a heel while dancing, the beading not coming loose from the friction of a hug. All of that is decided at the cutting and sewing table, long before the dress reaches the wedding, and it's the real difference between a pretty piece in a shop window and a piece that works for eight hours straight.
Before cleaning, ironing or storing an Eternidad dress, check the instructions for that particular garment. The tulle, embroidery and embellishments need to be assessed together: a professional can advise on suitable treatment and storage for the piece. If a stain appears, identify what caused it before asking how to treat it.
For those who prefer a more classic line, the Aurora Dress offers another take on the same idea: mermaid silhouette, embroidery, and that gala touch, but with a straight neckline that flatters the neck and shoulders in a different way than the Eternidad's more open necklines. It's an option I especially recommend to anyone with a more petite shoulder frame: the Aurora's straight line gives a visual structure that an asymmetric or very low neckline doesn't always achieve on smaller frames.
A practical detail for this time of year: if the wedding includes an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception, bring a shawl or light jacket for the outdoor part, depending on the expected temperature and how long you will be outside.

Try on Eternidad with the whole celebration in mind
Tell us the colour, date and shoes you plan to wear. We check availability and assess the evening gown alterations the piece allows.
We can assess changes to the length, bust or waist that each dress's construction allows. Confirm the possibilities before buying.
Gold and blue work especially well under a ballroom's artificial light.
"Beading doesn't light up the dress. It lights up the gesture of the woman wearing it."
