The Daycare Set Families Ask for as a Matching Kit: Smock, Backpack, Nap Cover and Diaper Bag

Discover the matching daycare set we make: a smock for mealtime, a backpack, a nap mat cover, and a diaper-and-snack bag with waterproof lining, customizable with fabric and an embroidered name.

Every September, the same thing happens: the daycare list arrives with a column of items that need to be labeled with a name. Bib, backpack, nap blanket, diaper bag... and a parent staring at the list wondering where to start.

At the atelier, we've turned that list into something much nicer than it looks on paper: a small set that accompanies the little one throughout the school year, one that many families end up ordering as a matching kit, in their favorite fabric, with the child's name embroidered on it.

"It isn't just daycare clothing. It's often the first thing a child recognizes as completely their own."

The mealtime smock: comfort above all

Mealtime is, for many little ones, the most chaotic moment of the day. That's why the smock we make prioritizes freedom of movement and ease of putting it on: a simple back closure, roomy sleeves, and a fabric that holds up to frequent washing without losing color or shape.

Many families order it to match the rest of the set, choosing a print that then repeats on the backpack or the snack bag.

From my work desk

For daycare clothing, I always recommend thick cotton or canvas fabrics, which hold up better to stains and to the high-temperature washing many centers require.

The backpack a child recognizes among all the others

The children's backpack is probably the most personal piece of the whole set. We make backpacks sized for little ones, with padded straps and simple closures so they can gradually gain independence.

It's common for us to be asked to embroider the child's name on the front, both for practicality and for that small pride of seeing their name on something that's entirely theirs.

The nap cover for the crib or mat

Many daycares ask for a fabric cover for the crib or nap mat, and it's one of the pieces we most enjoy working on with soft, breathable fabrics. We make covers fitted to the center's exact measurements, avoiding excess fabric that could feel uncomfortable during rest.

"The nap cover accompanies the little one during the most vulnerable part of the day. That's why we care about the fabric almost as much as the design."

The diaper-and-snack bag, all in one

For the rest of the day, we make a combined diaper-and-snack bag, with an inner compartment lined in waterproof fabric for a change of clothes, and an outer one for a lunch container or snack.

That waterproof lining is one of the details families appreciate most: it keeps a leak or small accident from soaking the rest of the backpack.

Custom sets that grow with the child

What we enjoy most about this kind of order is accompanying the family year after year. Many clients come back every September, changing the fabric, color, or size as the little one grows, but keeping that embroidered detail that makes each piece unmistakably theirs.

If you'd like to create a matching daycare set for your child, you can contact Atelier Yvicor. We can make a smock, backpack, nap cover, and diaper bag in the fabric you choose, with their name embroidered on.

"Before they can read their own name, many children already recognize it embroidered on their backpack."
