For salons working with bleach or harsher products, I also recommend reinforcing the front area with an extra protective layer, since those are the products that damage fabric most over time.

Not every pocket serves the same purpose. For scissors and combs, a deep, snug pocket keeps them from falling out when bending down. For clips and pins, a smaller compartment accessible with one hand works better, since they're used constantly during a service. And if the salon also works with hairdryers or straighteners, it's worth considering a heat-resistant pocket near the waist, so the tool can be put away without waiting for it to fully cool down.
